HISTORY OF OUR SCHOOL
Our schoolwhich had beendonated by Arslan Abidin Melek and Mehmet Sarı, was set on an area of 4324 m2, within the district which was formerly called Fatih district and today Yesiltepe district. Its tender was made on 9th October, 1984. It was constructed as a primary school which has 21 classrooms, by Rasim Çapkınoğlu for a tender price of 103.200.000.
The temporary admission of the school was agreed on 18th September, 1986. Our school started performing service with 1050 students in the 1986-1987 educational year,on 22nd September. That year, only the 1st and 6th grade students registered into the school. 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students were mostly transferred from the Fatih Primary School.
Our school was inaugurated by Metin Emiroğlu, the minister of the Ministery of National Education Youth and Sports on 6th November, 1986.
Our school was called Mehmet Akif Ersoy Primary School as the year 1986 was the 50th death anniversary of Mehmet Akif Ersoy, the poet of the ‘Turkish national anthem’.
English has been taught as foreign language in our school and computer, chess and sports activities have been taught as optional subjects. We started computer lessons in the 1998-1999 educational year (1 hour a week). We have started computer lessons as compulsory subject for 5th and 6th grade students (2 hours a week) since the 2013-2014 educational year.
Our school has been included within the National Education Development Project and has been maintaining educational activities as a curriculum laboratuary school since then.
It was planned to reduce the number of students per classroom to 40 at the beginning of the 1995-1996 educational year. And since the 1998-1999 educational year all the classes except 5th grades have continued their education with 40 students per classroom. This number has been reduced to numbers below 40 following the 1999-2000 educational year.
We have an Informatic Technologies classroom, a Science Laboratuary, a Technology and Design classroom, a multi-purpose assembly hall, a Visual arts classroom,a library, a map room, three nursery classrooms, a nursery kitchen and 27 standard classrooms in our school building.
In the 2010-2011 educational year we had totally 2024 students; 1890 students in the 1st-8th grade and 134 students in the nursery classes.
Since the 2011-2012 educational year, following the 4+4+4 education system,we have been continuing education in our building as two schools; Mehmet Akif Ersoy Secondary School in the morning and Mehmet Akif Ersoy Primary school in the afternoon.
We have totally 68 staff working within our institution structure; 4 administrators, 55 staffed teacher, 2 general administrative services staff, three assisted services staff, three support staff working for the school family cooperation, and a nursery support staff.

Our vision is to make our school an institution which brings up respectful, self-fulfilling, professionally successful individuals who are faithful to cultural and ethical values, by directing them to use their existing capacity ideally.

As Mehmet Akif Ersoy Secondary school, we are here to bring up our students, from 5th to 8th grade as self canfident, productive, determined, modern individuals who can reach information through technology, can transform their information to behaviour, can set goals and be successful enough to achieve those goals and who are compatible to society and faithful to moral values.
